As most of you know from reading my blog, I really believe in striving to honor the Lord in every aspect of life. I am far from perfect, but I truly desire to take care of the body God has given me by eating healthy and staying active. And it’s NOT all about trying to look a certain way. I don’t work out and eat clean to be skinny. I do it because I want to be strong, energetic and know that I am taking care of myself both inside and out.
As I shared with you all last week, I sometimes struggle to keep a good routine with working out. And honestly, it’s probably because I am tempted to put way too much pressure on myself to be perfect (and because my schedule is mostly crazy). So, instead of being super strict with myself, I’m trying something new….by trying new things!
You see, I’ve decided to mix up my workout routine. Instead of running 3-4 times per week (which can feel like such a chore), I’m only running once or twice. On top of that, I’ve joined an outside yoga group that meets weekly. And, the most exciting thing I’ve done all summer when it comes to staying fit is attend my first CycleBar class. And I have been itching all week to tell you about it!
Before attending my first CycleBar class, this is what I knew about it: Part exercise class, part rock concert, CycleBar offers an exhilarating, high-energy workout experience, complete with mind-blowing playlists, interactive rides and a multi-sensory workout experience designed for people of all ages and body types. With 33 unique touch points for a multi-sensory workout experience, the studios feature 50 top-of- the-line Schwinn Carbon Blue bikes, energy-enhancing CycleBeats™ music, video graphics, rider-specific performance data with CycleStats®, a state-of- the-art CycleTheatre® and more.
Sounds pretty cool, right?! Naturally, when I was approached with the opportunity to take a CycleBar ride, I just couldn’t say no! So here’s how it went down:
I met up with my friend Patricia at CycleBar Northville (in Northville, Michigan) about 15 minutes before the class started. We checked ourselves in using their iPads, grabbed our free cycling shoes, filled up our complimentary water bottles and headed for the CycleTheatre.
…But not before getting a proper picture!
So anyways, upon entering the CycleTheatre, I immediately noticed the cool temperature and awesome lighting.
We found our way to our bikes, adjusted them as needed, sat down and clipped our shoes into the pedals. Just a few minutes later, class began (don’t mind the blurry photo!).
Now, I have never taken any sort of cycling class before, so I didn’t have any idea what to even expect! Sadly, I have nothing to compare this class to, but I can tell you that I can’t imagine it being any more thrilling and fun!
The class lasted 50 minutes, but it did NOT feel that long. Our instructor kept us moving with different types of cycling–fast and seated, slow and standing–and kept us motivated with energizing music. On top of that, at one point near the middle of the class, we slowed our pace down and focused on our upper body with free weights. It truly was a full-body workout.
After we left the studio, we of course treated ourselves to some post-workout Starbucks!
Now I’m going to let you in on a little secret…I have the opportunity for one of my readers to win a CycleBar Swag Bag as well as a free ride (to be redeemed at either CycleBar Northville or CycleBar Troy)! All you have to do is visit my latest Instagram post, and follow the instructions. Contest closes Friday, August 19th, at midnight. Winner will be randomly selected on Saturday, August 20th.
But that’s not all…
CycleBar Northville is giving away 50 FREE RIDES to one lucky winner! You can enter that separate contest here. In addition, to celebrate their Grand Opening, they are giving away a total of 2,500 free rides between August 18 – August 28. You can learn more about that here.
I was selected as a CycleBar brand ambassador and was given the opportunity to experience their new studio free of charge in exchange for writing this post. Please note that any personal opinions in this post reflected in this CycleBar – Northville review are my own and this post has not been monetarily compensated.
